मेरे बारे में कुछ कहे (A little bit about me)
I am a DREAMI Scholar and mentor. DREAMI stands for Decode Rediscover Express Amplify Map Intersectionality focused research and practice. For years, I did research and taught planning, leaving out the effect of intersectionality on the planning and policy outcomes. Sadly, by doing so I was leaving out key analysis on how our intersectional identities, such as race, color gender. sexual orientation and many other characteristics that are often invisibilized or intentionally ignored for convenience, can harm minoritized communities. Intersectionality’s roots are Black feminism and the lived experience of Black women’s oppression. Intersectionality is a theory that was developed by Kimberlé Crenshaw, Professor of Law at UCLA and Columbia Law School.
